Land Fill
Rubber

¼ inch (or 6mm) to minus 20 mesh in size at 99.99% purity from steel & nylon (in compliance with ASTM test method D-5644).

This wide range of rubber particle size gives way to many different applications. Recycled tires are all around you, and most people don't even know it.

Here are just a few of the ways reRubber puts discarded tires to other uses:

Rubberized Asphalt

Rubber Asphalt has been used to strengthen and improve liquid asphalt. According to the California Department of Transportation, rubber asphalt has several benefits besides having a longer life; this rubber produces better results with less material. It reduces cracking, improves skid resistance, reduces noise, looks better and reduces the cost of maintenance. It also lessens the environmental impact, by keeping tires out of landfills.

Crumb Rubber Feedstock

Crumb Rubber Feedstock has universal applications. The recycling of tires as raw material for useful products is one that has wide benefits. reRubber aims to “close the loop” and work with our partners to create versatile products.

Here are some great ways crumb rubber is used:

Molded Products

Crumb Rubber works well with products produced in high-volume, such as rubber floor mats, acoustical flooring, anti-fatigue mats, removable speed bumps, wheel stops, traffic cones and more.  Molded products use finer crumb rubber that reRubber produces and is mixed with a binder and then is compressed into a mold.

Athletic Surfaces & Playground Cover

Playgrounds and athletic surfaces (sports arena, running tracks, turf, horse arena cover) are constructed with crumb rubber and a mix of urethane binder. This material is also used in athletic turf, to help reduce soil compaction and improve drainage and as a safe alternative to wood chips for playground surfaces.

This provides for the best shock absorption for playground on the market now with over 12 feet in shock absorption of fall according to the United States Testing Company, Inc. and the Consumer Products Safety Commission, using a 6 inch depth of each material.  Initially more expensive than traditional materials however it only needs to be installed once.

Shock Absorptions

reRubber’s crumb rubber is non-toxic and are unaffected by stomach acid so if pieces were ingested by child or pets, tests reports show that they will pass through the digestive tract. (Maryland Environmental Services, 1994)
