Up to 15% of a whole tire contains fiber and nylon which can also be described as fibrous “fluff”. These fibers are primarily composed of polyester in modern day tires as a means to improve tire performance and quality. Fiber from tires can be reused in many applications such as for construction mixes like concrete and stucco, used in cleanups as the fiber is a highly absorbent material, carpet blends and underlay, as well as a tire derived fuel. Other applications include being used as a filler or stuffing, for sound deadening, as well as a reinforcing additive for rubber, plastic, and composite materials. New innovative ways are still being researched to fully utilize the often classified by-product from tire recycling operations however several factors have excluded the development of tire derived fiber markets such as poor separation of materials and low awareness. reRubber is dedicated to finding new uses in the local economy to divert fibers from being land filled which is the most common end life in tire recycling operations. Fibers derived by reRubber are strictly free of contamination to promote the highest end use quality. |
